Starcraft 2 won't even download game information at all. Rocket League won't matchmake unless I wait multiple minutes (and even then), and if it does I'm getting 300+ ping on Japan servers even though I'm routing through HK. This currently seems to work pretty fine for most streaming (Netflix & Twitch). I tried Vultr in the beginning just to cut my teeth on setting up SS, but now I've bought a dedicated server from GigsGigsCloud with a 1Gbps network port and a 200 Mbps dedicated line from HK. I haven't got any extra router yet, still using the basic one provided by the landlord, so my current setup involves simply using the ShadowsocksR app + Proxifier to route all my traffic via the VPS I bought. I'm open to any and all suggestions and feedback, and will do my best to provide any information required by you guys to help out. For Proxifier, I've added my Proxy Server to the list (IP:443, type SOCKS5), however any connection that tries to go through it seems to fail with the error "Could not connect through proxy - Proxy closed the connection unexpectedly".īoth of these happen while I am connected to my SSR server using ShadowsocksR, and I haven't setup any authentication in either Astrill or Proxifier, since my SSR server only seems to have a password in its config. With Astrill, I went to the Proxy Settings and added my SSR server IP + port (443) and then connected to OpenVPN but as soon as I do that, nothing goes through. Now to the actual question, I've tried routing my traffic through Astrill (to which I have a sub) and Proxifier. So far, there's not a massive difference between Vultr and GigsGigsCloud, but I'm hoping this lies in my setup and not the actual server provided. I've setup a Japan-based and a LA-based Vultr VPS with SSR, as well as bought a dedicated server (30$/month, 1 Gpbs network port, 200Mbps dedicated speed, HK line China Optimized PCCW/CMI) with GigsGigsCloud to compare speeds. Been in China for 18 months now, and got tired of using regular VPN services that give very low international bandwidth speed, not to mention the near-inability of being able to play online games on servers outside of Asia. Focused for online gaming (Starcraft 2, Rocket League, Apex Legends, etc.)Ĭompletely new to SS/SSR, but quite at ease with computers. TL DR, looking for some help to setup either Proxifier or Astrill to route traffic through my SSR server.
